Lol, if we do get a puppy, I'll be sure to share. XDThere betterOr you shall face the wrath I deliver onto Pamps when she leaves me pictureless
AwwwwwwwwwwWe might be getting a Golden Shepherd puppy this week! They were an "oops" litter from a pure Golden Retriever mom and pure German Shepherd dad. They're all black and the pictures are sooo cute. There are ten of them.
Martingale collars are great! They provide more action than flat collars but less action than slips or prongs. I have heard they are also safer because when fit properly the dog can not slip out backwards like they can flat collars.Y'all heard of martingale collars? Just learned about them.
Yeah, that's what I was reading! Apparently they are great for leash training and walks with dogs that pull. These pups are just 9 weeks, so they're about to enter that "window" for exposure, socialization, and training.Martingale collars are great! Yeah they are good. I personally would just make sure it knows how to walk loose leash before implementing pressure. And please don't let it run up to every person it sees. That drives me crazy when people do that and you will regret it later. People think that is "socialization"Yeah, that's what I was reading! Lol, don't worry, I agree that that doesn't count as socialization. XDYeah they are good. I personally would just make sure it knows how to walk loose leash before implementing pressure. We have never had good results from using harnesses with the two pit mixes we had growing up, despite altered training approaches and regular walks as puppies. We lived out in the country though, and the dogs rarely left the property so it wasn't frequent or consistent once they were more grown. Leashed walks happened every couple of months at best once they were adults. The first dog slowly got better as she settled down and got older. I'm sure it'll take some trial and error for us here.I've always started every pup in the last 20 years with a harness, and when they are adults, or too big for a harness, I switch to a slip lead and never get any pulling on the slip lead. I tried a martingale and found them to be too easy for a dog to potentially pull out if not properly fitted, same with those soft harness.
