What is a Sapphire Sky?

These are my two sapphire sky girls! Around 28 weeks right now. Sweet, a little skittish, never squat just run. Narrow sleek body, decent combs and little head crests. Fly well and laying machines. Both have never missed a day. They are still young but still wish they would take a day here and there. One lays olive green eggs and one teal green. So far so good. They also live with light Brahmas and they make them look so huge and clumsy! Lol

Thank you! They only get to free range an hour or so a day due to high predator populations. So we tried to make it multi level and allow for movement. In the winter we put the tarps up on the sides and we leave the door way and top 1/4 open for more ventilation. You can’t see in the picture but we have more roosting up top over the platform and when we come home they all hop up on the highest roost and start calling for me to come let them out. You can just see all their little heads poking over the tarp. It’s pretty hilarious. I always get a kick out of it!

That’s so cute! We have a similar situation with only being able to let them out for short periods each day, so I’m going to have to steal some of your ideas for keeping them entertained!

Thank for for sharing these photos and info! They are very beautiful.

Am I seeing this wrong, or do they have white earlobes?

A mint green and white combo actually. They were much greener before they started laying. Then got white/green as they aged. I hope that’s normal! I googled it when I first saw the green and couldn’t find much.

Wow, interesting! I wonder what breed they are mixed with that causes that. Maybe it is the Legbar? I just looked that up and they do have white earlobes. But the green, that's strange!
