I bought some rabbits a few weeks back, and i know they are some sort of "lop" breed.. but what breed for sure? Sometimes the ears all lay down, sometimes one will stand part way. These are nice size rabbits.

This is the buck:

Here's the doe's: (the one on the left.. her ears are standing, but usually one is down and the other is partially down)

They look like American Lop crosses to me....otherwise known as Feedstore buns. A lot of times feedstores will try and get lop type buns because they're "cuter"
They are darn cute though! Especially the does..

I am just now getting into rabbits, wanting to raise some for meat... but I have a feeling I am going to have trouble doing that...lol. I have a nest full of little ones right now, and those beady eyes looking back at me.. I just dont know...lol.

Thanks for the response

Do you know how old they are? How much they weigh? They look like mini Lop or mini Lop crosses to me.

My daughters first rabbit had one ear up and one down. He was her favorite!
P.S. Your buck's color is called "Chestnut" the doe on the right is called "Chinchilla" and the doe on the left is an "Orange"
Chestnut is the dominate color.

Lops would be okay meat buns...I would get Flemish Giants, Rex, Champagne D'Argent, or maybe Californians if you really want to get good meat. Rex's give good pelts too...like velvet, only longer and softer...
However, I could never kill and eat a bun. Maybe if I never knew the thing, but I think it would be hard to eat your own.

yes, the buck is huge, he weighs around 12 pounds or so.. he is 1 1/2 years old.. the doe's are a year old and they are around 9-10 pounds. Both does are bred, so I will have babies ( hopefully) from them in a few weeks.
