What Special Treat or Yummy Did Your Flock Get Today?

I give mine cockroaches

I breed about 6 species of tropical roach, and some of the smaller ones like B. lateralis, or nymphs of larger species like B. dubia/discoid.

I am careful when I feed climbing species such as lobsters or hissers, tho the chickens are scared of the big hissers anyways.

Why do I raise 6 kinds of roaches willingly in my home, you may be wondering . . .
I feed them to my collection of reptiles and amphibians and arachnids(yep- spiders/tarantulas)

I got a vid of the chickens when they were babies, none recent of a roach feeding; I give to them about 3-4x a week.
My quails love em too . . .

Oh man! What kind of reptiles and tarantulas do you have? I currently only have 2 ball pythons but since I was 9 I've had a bunch of snakes(pythons, boas, colubrids-much prefer the bigger guys though I <3 my ballies. one is 14 years old now very first snake I ever got.), a few lizards, and a couple peruvian pink toe tarantulas.

Watermelon (cold rind and about a 1/2 or so of red flesh)

and worms I found a mother load in the compost pile so picked out a couple dozen and threw to the chickens.

For some reason I have an aversion to giving my laying hens bugs and reptiles. I know they eat them but I won't contribute to that.

Mine got their uncooked oatmeal and some watermelon.

Today it was green grapes, some romaine lettuce AND (this was a BIG hit) Udon noodles!! They went after those like they were worms!! Ha ha, it was sooo funny watching them chase after each other like one of them had a big red wiggler!!

Oh GOOD, I'm glad to see someone else feeds fresh herbs to their flock!! I forgot to add that I gave some clippings off my chocolate mint and orange mint plants today. I didnt even stop to think if it was safe for them! They didnt seem tooo excited about it, but I guess they figure 'fresh greens are fresh greens'

Wouldnt it be cool if they ate a bunch of the chocolate mint and then laid eggs that tasted like Jr.Mints?

Checkout my videos on that youtube channel . . .
I have way too much to list, but Im really into my frogs and spiders.
I have prolly 30 different species of taratulas now . . .
Im trying to get rid of all my snakes, I have a couple kings left and my rattler(ill never give him up).

My ladies got room service on their first morning in The Chickenarium. I felt chilly when I went out there (they weren't even huddled, apparently they weren't chilly) so I made them their first breakfast of cooked oatmeal, ever.
Lord what a mess, but what fun!

Now, when I spend time with them in the coop, they try to eat me- my red toenails and silver toe rings, my fingernails (no polish), and my clothes, with any sort of print.
I wanted them to associate me with food, but I didn't know they would come to view me as food.

Bright Blessings
