Can pure Ameraucana chicks have the wild type pattern? I'm trying to mess around with auto-sexing and blue egg genes and would need a bird that lays blue eggs and has the wild type pattern when it is a chick.and if an Ameraucana chick does have the wild type pattern could it still have homozygous blue egg laying genes?

The APA standard doesn't recognise the wild type pattern.
I believe Silver Ameraucanas are based on the Wildtype e+ allele, basically they are Silver Duckwing pattern when adult with wildtype chick down!

But as to the OP, you will need more than a wildtype chick down for Autosexing, you will need sex-linked barring, but for a true Autosexing blue egg layers try to get your hands on Cream Legbars!

My plan was to try to make legbars but with ameraucanas instead of araucanas so that the egg production would be higher.
