I think I'm far more lucky than amazing, honestly.

Case in point. I was lucky this guy was more interested in watching me get close enough to get a good shot than he was in fighting for the food crumbs with the others.

The his eye is so sharp and you captured the iridescent colors.

Great shots. Really like the detail in the first one. Those cormorants have beautiful eyes. I still want to get a super close up shot of their eyes...
It was very cooperative just chilling out on the boardwalk railing. I could get really close. If you can zoom in far enough in the top right side of the eye, you can see a bit of clouds with the sun reflecting off them.

That is awesome, you captured some great detail! This is the closest I have got to one so far (heavily cropped image). This guy was at the end of a dock. I would take one step at a time, take images, then another step, take images, etc. I was able to get about ~25ft from him before he flew off.

One day I hope to get within 10ft of one and get some images like these (not my images)......
