I have sandy soil and have had a few tunnel into run, the chickens love to dig farther in that freshly loosened soil, but my run is not meant to be night secure so I don't really care.I think they go below the frost line in the winter.. which is close to 4' here some years
I bet they go deeper than I want to dig around a coop
I have hoop coops with dirt floors.. up until now I didn't worry about the moles in the yard... but they came up in 2 of the 4 coops... may have to get some traps
Am more than grateful I was able to build coop in an existing raised building.
