I love BYC … yet another interesting and educational thread I am happy to have come across.

With the Caecals, those are also the ones that have a smell which can curl hair and toes and linger for the whole of the day?

If that is the case, then I think they can deposit them overnight .. I have had rude awakenings and been knocked back a few feet when opening the coop for a clean of the overnight deposits

I have not heard of oxalis so did some research .. interesting. It appears to be toxic to chickens but like many things, in large doses.

I think they can poop cecal at night, but it seems like mine do them more first thing in the morning after leaving the roost and at dusk before they roost. And yes, they are smelly!

people in greece don't feed chickens oxalis. they even say they will stop laying. but when I got my first chickens last year my place was full of it. they ate it all, huge quantities and nothing happened.

at the end of august they stopped laying (heat and fowl pox). when in september oxalis started to grow again I picked it up for them and they started to lay again.

those yellow poops smell like hell! I usually don't find them under the roost but if I am late to open the coop I might find it. in my big coop which is always open and chickens go out as soon as they wake up I don't find cecal poops.

update: no yellow foamy poop today

must have been worms. I noticed that levamisole will not kill all the worms but unfortunately I don't have a choice here (live on an island). I used human's vermox last time, thanks to a byc member who suggested that to me in another thread.

Those are probably the ones, yes. The smell shoots right up your nose and out the back of your skull. Our coop is permanently open, so there's no chance of opening the door to a nasty surprise.
