I have grown plants from seeds for a long time. Each year when I get started I still have the feeling they will not all grow. So I start too many hoping to have all I need. Then I find it difficult to cull healthy seedlings. Same for the seed I start directly in the veggie garden. I will thin the plants in the garden but I end up with way too many annuals for the flower beds. I can only plant so many before I will try to rehome a few. So I become the "plant pusher".I have concluded garden math is rather like chicken math. Starting more seeds than one has room for.

I am fortunate that I do not have any restrictions on our property. I do have to put restrictions on DH. I am raising 5 baby chicks we picked up a couple weeks ago. Yesterday he said we may need to make a feed run this week. Then he added we'll check out what kinds of chicks they have. I just looked at him and laughed.Glad the city has a restriction on the number of chickens one can have. Otherwise, I'd do more than look each time I hear peep-peeping at the farm store.
I will not let him go to the feed store alone until after chick season!
