Your 2025 Garden

I have concluded garden math is rather like chicken math. Starting more seeds than one has room for.
I have grown plants from seeds for a long time. Each year when I get started I still have the feeling they will not all grow. So I start too many hoping to have all I need. Then I find it difficult to cull healthy seedlings. Same for the seed I start directly in the veggie garden. I will thin the plants in the garden but I end up with way too many annuals for the flower beds. I can only plant so many before I will try to rehome a few. So I become the "plant pusher". :D I not above leaving petunias or marigolds on people's porches when they are not home. Later on they may get zucchini and yellow squash. 🤭
Glad the city has a restriction on the number of chickens one can have. Otherwise, I'd do more than look each time I hear peep-peeping at the farm store.
I am fortunate that I do not have any restrictions on our property. I do have to put restrictions on DH. I am raising 5 baby chicks we picked up a couple weeks ago. Yesterday he said we may need to make a feed run this week. Then he added we'll check out what kinds of chicks they have. I just looked at him and laughed.
I will not let him go to the feed store alone until after chick season!

I regularly provide others with plants every spring.

We had a good soaking rain Tuesday and a shower last night. I am seeing some germination in my green beans and squash. Still waiting on the butter beans and cucumbers. Need to get my peppers planted out ASAP. Also have lots of marigolds.
I need to hill the potatoes again this week.

I might be picking peas by the end of the week.

Lookin' good, Nana! 👍

??- How many of them peas actually make it into the house and how many are snacks while weeding the patch? At my house, it's usually about a 25(house)/75(snack) ratio. Pretty much the same as with grape tomatoes. A person needs inspiration to keep at no-one's favorite chore.

It skipped us, again. No rain here in about 3 weeks.

We need rain very badly. No measurable rain in over 2 weeks. Slowly we are getting things planted on our own. The help that was promised is just not materializing. We have gotten some romaine harvested Cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli is looking good. We put out a whole lot of tomatoes hoping we will get at least some of what we need for canning. When we catch a buy one get one one large cans of diced tomatoes we buy 7-10 cans. A new 22 cu ft upright freezer will be here Tuesday. Our chest types (both of them) are full.

I hope you've got a generator for backup. That's a lot of food to cook at the last minute in case the next hurricane or zombie apocalypse comes through you little slice of Heaven.
