I'm so sorry! We came home to a rough looking garden when we got home from the hospital too. We've still had an abundant harvest though. The deer, squirrels, and crows got all of the corn and the heat and pests are about to finish off most of what is left. We usually allow our garden to die back...
I found some footage from last year while I was watching nature handle things for me and made a quick clip for you. lol, I don't love wasps but this is why I don't get upset with them. 😆
Last year was the first year that I really had to contend with them and they're back again this year. I am NOT a fan. Wasps with kill and eat them but they are extremely outnumbered.
We've been using pvc lattice for years and years. It takes a tiny bit more effort to weave the vine back and forth through the holes as it grows but it works great and is also easy to clean off when the plant is dead.
I've never found anything to be very effective against them either. The babies don't like insecticidal soap but once they're adults you have to pick them off.
I don't know how I missed your comment. That sounds super interesting!
I love cookbooks. I have so many, they don't all fit on the shelf. I was actually considering starting to take them apart and organizing a folder filled with favorites like I do with printed recipes and magazine pages...but...
The squirrels here definitely enjoy sifting through our garden beds when we plant seeds too but there are usually still plenty left behind for plants to grow... hopefully it remains that way.
