Feeling sad. Just rehomed the last two of my roos and this set included my longest living silkie who was also my cuddle bug (all my others passed as very young chicks). While I have a new white silkie to love on who I hatched here at home, I don't know if its a male or female yet and now I'm...
Hi All, I have 3 chickens I'd like to play Roo or Hen with. Please share your thoughts. All are older than 10 weeks. Brown is supposed to be an ameracauna, grey-black one is English Orpington- and a silkie. Ameracauna and English Orp have testy attitudes and sound they they are attempting...

Agreed. My husband is upset and is hanging on for no crowing. I at least want to get a few chicks out of him if it's a roo before he heads for sale.. some pay back for time, feed, and sore ankles!!!
I have a splash orpington, acts the same way. Staring to get red faced and comb looks different than other orpingtons I've had. Also pecks my ankles. Really poor feather development too, so I'm having a tough time with sexing mine too. She is the one in the lower right corner. I'd love to see...
@AlHawkCalcium deficiency, maybe, but I imagine that would be accompanied by soft shell eggs. I think its more likely that you have someone who has learned to like eating egg and just ate the shell as an extra treat. Collect your eggs sooner if you can. Chicken Chick has a great article to help...
