Clear Liquid Coming out Mouth and Vent

Thanks everyone, this chicken passed away shortly after this, so following up late, and necropsy revealed caner/tumors in reproductive track. A common occurrence for us and in both white leghorns we got at Tractor Supply. Both were about 2 yrs. old.

Prolapsed vent that won't go back in

We have a pretty good Avian Vet, and she says when there’s a lash egg or material and there is usually an ova duct infection. We have had many of these infections in our flock, and we only treated one early enough to cure it. Our vet gives us 30 days of 300mg cephalexin antibiotic tabs, quarter...

Clear Liquid Coming out Mouth and Vent

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes there is plenty of small gravel-sand for grit. I suspect it could be grass since the rain has finally stopped and it’s really green. However, I read that if it was a crop blockage liquid would be colored an have an odor. I also read about gape worm and more serious...

Clear Liquid Coming out Mouth and Vent

Then, after we got back home, the water discharge started. The first day she was drinking excessive amounts of water so we thought maybe she ate something bad, But then it slowed down and she seemed normal, however now we notice the water is still dripping from her vent especially at night when...

    Water belly & impacted crop

Hi - I just sent a reply message to Eddie and read Wyorp's message. I agree with and appreciate everyone's input. I haven't mentioned, but Orps feet are really arthritic too, very swollen, so yeah, I think her time has come. We've been raising layers for about 11-12 years now, mainly we get from...

Hi - Yes, draining helped her feel much better yesterday, but she isn't doing well this morning. Crop is still full and she is now making gurgling sounds and sitting in the crate and breathing a little heavy. Upon phone advise from local vet yesterday, we gave her 2 mL fiber diluted to...

    Water belly & impacted crop

Thank you!! We are going to try and drain her to at least give her some relief. Given her age, I’m thinking the main problem might be a farther down, and the backed up crop is a secondary symptom. The crop is packed full but softish to the touch, feels like full of grain.

Hi Thanks, we are working on her. She’s old and always kind of messy so we’re always cleaning Now bathing and trying to uncover older skin to see what we can find. So far we just found one big maggot and we’re not sure if it came out from under some dead skin or debris or out her vent. She...

    Ivermectin or Fenbendazile (Safeguard)?

We discovered some large maggots under skin near vent. Hen was putting off odor so that explains it. Vet prescribed ivermectin once for this, but will Safeguard work the same? I know concentration for both for parasites.
