My husband is starting to make plans to build our Ladies a new run this summer. He was looking at using treated lumber, but I don't know if that is safe to have around the Ladies or not. There are big notices saying that it has arsenic used in treating it, and that you need to use safety...
Starting a new coop this summer since the original one has decided that it is done and over with. We have pretty much decided to get this shed from Lowe's

but I was thinking today how much I wanted to start on meat birds. I also had the thought of getting a goose for xmas, and maybe a couple of ducks when I am able to have the room to have meaties. Would I process them the same as the chickens and turkeys?
I know I know...strange question. I have 2 EE in my flock, Mercedes is the oldest, at almost 7 y.o., and Silver is only 3 y.o.
Mercedes has always laid a lovely gorgeous greenish-blue egg. Silver has not....I have only ever seen her lay brown eggs. So, I said ok... fine, I have a brown egg...

Anyone have a link to where I could get some of that heavy plastic vinyl stuff like they use for walk-in freezers? I wanted to get a few bits to put on my chicken door to act like a bit of a weather-repellent. I saw a few people here had the plastic sheets....I called Lowes and they didnt carry...

MY husband stopped off to get a bag for me cos I wanted to try it out in a few weeks with the girls when we switch everyone over to the main feed from the grower.
However he got the layer feed <that I asked him to NOT get but that is a different story lol> When I called to see about exchanging...

I am...
Reason I was asking is that the girls are 8 weeks old now and growing fast! They are HUGE! Three nights ago I locked them up late, so I got to see them all roosting
Poor Momma Esther tho... she was sitting there on her roost, with her wings spread wide, snuggling <well trying to > 5 1/2 grown...
I understand that the Rangers and the Cornish x are probably the best out there for taste and cost wise correct?
Now, are these birds better for certain types of cooking or for all purpose? Like if I mostly roast, would it be better for me to go one type? Or BBQ another?
Or, are they good all...
