Ok, long story short they are complaining about the noise that my rooster makes, they are saying he crows all night long. (he doesn't, he starts about 5-6am.
My property is zoned Agriculture, if I am reading that right there is a noise...
Yesterday I went to my local country max store and they had chicks (I have a friend who works there and gave me the heads up on a delivery of chicks with spare EE! )
Yesterday and this morning everyone seemed to be doing fine, I came home from the horse barn and found one of the chicks laying...
I'm converting a pallet made shed that my mother in law has in her yard into a coop for my chicks. I would like some feedback and hopefully an answer to some of my questions.
OK, here is my general floor plan. I am not using the entire shed as I would like to keep an area open for food...
Is it possible for two Red Star Pullets to have different combs? Is it part of being mix breeds or is one of my chicks not a Red Star?
My chick on the left appears to have a nice single comb, she is bigger than her sister (they came from the same red pullet bin at TSC the same day from same...

I have several things around the house that I can make into a brooder, the top two on my list are:
choice one: 45g LONG glass aquarium. I've had it for many years, it has been sitting with nothing in it for a while now. It's shallow and long, so I doubt that any one area would get too hot...
Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions for varieties of chickens that handle colder areas well. I live in Syracuse, NY which is known for it's usually high snow fall totals (golden snowball winner many many years over.)
I would like a breed (or several breeds) that could stand being around the...
Hello! I'm Bree and I live in Syracuse NY. I have cats, a dog, a lizard, a horse and pretty soon I'm hoping to add some hens to the mix. I am 25, I love to garden, bicycle ride (RedRider!) and hang out with my horse Topaz.
I don't have any chicks or hens yet. I'm working on collecting some...
