Mt Healthy Hatchery - Recent Review

I still have three of my original 7 ordered in May of 2018, I lost two to predators (we believe, they disappeared) and one to sour crop. They still lay consistently. I would absolutely order from them again. I even hatched 7 chicks from this group. I will try to attach pictures later, it isnt...

    Bald butt (Picture Included)

They have one roost that spans the entire 12 foot width of the coop. I sprayed her with a no peck spray today as it seems to be healing. I will keep an eye on the flock and see if I can identify any pecking or bullying.

    Guineas Keets Dying

When I went to pick up the replacements, I was told that this batch was intransit when the temperature dropped and they have had a good number of them struggling. So far everyone is super active, chatty, eating and drinking. I have them in the house so I can keep an eye on everyone. Losing the...

    Bald butt (Picture Included)

They are getting an 18% layer feed, they have a run that is 8 x 10 and a coop that is 10 x 12. I only have 13 chickens in that space. They also get to free range off and on.

    Guineas Keets Dying

A local farm store. I called this morning and they said they will make it right. So far the other 4 seem to be okay. One has me a little nervous because it is holding its wings out from its body. They are eating and drinking.

    Guineas Keets Dying

I got 6 guineas keets on Friday. Everything was fine until today. I have lost two within the last 4 hours. The first one was lethargic. The second I just found and it almost seemed like it was having a seizure. Everyone else is up and moving around, they seem fine. I have them on 24% gamebird...

    Chicken Losing Feathers

I would put the saddle back on her and add feather fixer to their feed. She needs more protein in her diet.

    Bald butt (Picture Included)

One of my hens has a bald butt and a scab under her vent. I recently checked everyone and used poultry dust because I thought my rooster may have had lice. He still has bald patches, and I cannot find evidence of lice or mites other than his bald spots (side of neck, around tail feathers). He...

    Chicken Losing Feathers

Do you have a rooster? This is what some of my girls look like. As for her having mites, DE isnt going to get rid of them. I would buy poultry dust.

    Possible bugs?

I will check his vent area when I go back out to the coop. I went through the Chicken Chicks article yesterday and still don't feel confident on what it is. I was going to go with lice but without finding bugs, I wasn't sure.

    Possible bugs?

My rooster has had some bald spots for months. He has a spot on his neck and one next to his tail. When it started, I thought he was molting. I checked him over for bugs and found nothing. I then thought maybe the girls were picking at him and have given them things to entertain them and let...

    Is My Rooster Molting?

My rooster is 7 months old and his feathers have the same fluffy look at the base of his tail and on his neck. I noticed a bald spot by his tail and grabbed him to check him over (he loved it by the way). I thought it an odd age to molt but other than white flakes, I didnt see any indication of...

    Wry Neck in Polish

We plan to move him back into the coop with the other chickens, but have to modify the cage so they cannot pluck his crest through it. We already did that once, unfortunately.

    Wry Neck in Polish

Well my concern is that it has been 2 months. I will give it a couple of weeks and only give a straight vitamin E capsule twice a day to see what happens. The doesn't need assistance eating or drinking, he does that with no issues now. My concern is him being away from the rest of flock and...

    Wry Neck in Polish

    Wry Neck in Polish

I have Polish rooster that I have been treating for wry neck for a couple of months. He is in our garage in a dog crate so the other chickens wont hurt him. My question is this, has anyone ever had a Polish never fully straighten out? He is eating a drinking fine, gets Nutri Drench in his...

    Bare Belly on Hen

My hen is still acting odd. She has no visible signs of being sick. The only odd thing she is doing is staying separated from the other girls when they are out free ranging. I have checked for bugs, checked all poop for worms, her hind end looks good, etc. I really not sure what else to do other...

    Bare Belly on Hen

It was over a month ago and I out eggs in the incubator when we lost him. I have 7 chicks in the brooder now from that hatch. I knew I had a window of time to act. That is why I said it figures. Lol
