We have 2 Plymouth barred rock chickens. One has more white but looks and acts more like a pullet. The other one has double the wattle size, bigger and redder comb/wattle. Personality has always been more dominant, not afraid to wonder alone or be pet. It’s bigger than two blue andalusians that...
She lost some feathers when we combined with our original chickens so I’m not sure if they are just falling funny because of that.
Very submissive but taller than all my chickens, leghorns, road island reds, New Hampshire reds. Not a large comb either.
we bought 2 of them hatched the same day, one looks more like a sapphire gem but this one is much bigger and has always been more protective especially of the other chick. The other doesn’t have a comb at all and this one has since it hatched starting to turn red. It has tons of feathers. Bigger...
We have adult hens that are laying but we added 3 pullets awhile back. They are a little over 14 weeks. High egg producers. Australorp and New Hampshire reds.
Could this possibly be from one of them? If not is something wrong with our hens? I haven’t seen an “egg” that small for years
I haven't even heard of marans. They said they were Plymouth Barred rock but we all know how that goes. I'm going to look into that. That's interesting! Maybe I'm just jumping the gun a little bit. My kids had their heart set on a PBR like one we had and lost :/
It's amazing watching them grow...
I hope you're right! The other one seems to have bigger white barring than black but this one started getting a redder comb literally over night. I know I'm going to have to just watch it for the next few weeks
Wow! Yeah he is a lot more distinct. I wasn't sure at this age if they would show...
I woke up today and realized it’s comb is More red today than yesterday. 3 weeks old. I thought this one was a pullet and our other Plymouth a cockerel. The other one just has a decent sized comb and possibly more white than black on it’s barring.
