Adopt and Egg....... Shipped egg Hatch-a-long 2023

@junior67 can I ask how you’re setting your shipped eggs? I have seen so many articles recommending setting them upright in the incubator for the first 48 hours, or for a week, or for three weeks, and hatching upright, etc… lots of different methods. I just received my first batch of shipped...

    Baby chick vent pulsing

I had the exact same thing happening with one of my bantam chicks when she was very young. She is now 1.5 years old 😊 I still notice her vent pulsing every once in a while now that she’s an adult! I’m not sure what causes this but my chick made it just fine.

    Incubator recommendations??

Did you hatch any this year with your NR 360? 🙂 I’m planning on getting my first incubator soon and wanted to know what you thought of this one as a new hatcher as well!

Review by 'caitlyn11' in article 'Bumblefoot How To Treat Your Chickens With Surgery Graphic Pics'

I have referenced this article multiple times to do bumblefoot operations and I’ve had success with this exact method on all but one of my hens. I realized her bumblefoot kept coming back was because I wasn’t clearing the kernel out completely as my tweezers were missing small chunks. PRO TIP...

Got it. Thanks! Are there any courses, programs, outlets, or books you recommend for someone wanting to begin learning about chicken genetics?

The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

I *think* this is feather leakage on my supposed Splash Ameraucana. If so, how did that happen? Also, could he pass it on to his babies? My newbie chicken owner mind is blown. Thanks!

    Ameraucana 2

I’m thinking it’s leakage too. I was hoping to use him for breeding but now I’m not sure. Either way he’s sweet and cute enough to look at! I have a soft spot for those Ameraucana beards. Lol

    Ameraucana 2

Here is my handsome Splash Ameraucana rooster, Antonio 😊 he is 4 months old. I recently started noticing some brown coloring on him, and I can’t tell if it’s color leakage or if he’s getting dirty somehow. Any ideas? Also, are his legs green? They look different to me everyday and I can’t...

One eye closed / lethargy - 8 month old bantam with chicks

WOW that makes total sense! Her little hoodlums do peck her eyes sadly. What is the dosage for Tylan 50? All I see on the bottle is the cattle and swine instructions. Thank you all!

One eye closed / lethargy - 8 month old bantam with chicks

Any ideas what’s going on with my hen? She is closing one eye off an on and acting slow and lethargic. She is also currently a first time mom to three chicks. She was broody for about 30 days when I was finally able to get her some chicks, and I think being broody in the heat was really hard on...

    June 2022 Hatch-a-long

Sorry for the long post, but this is certainly not how I wanted my first hatch to go. this morning I woke up to a little wet yellow chick 🎉 One more to go. This is my broody’s first hatch, and mine, so I observed for about 30 minutes and decided broody and chick looked to be getting along just...

    June 2022 Hatch-a-long

I’m new here and wanted to jump in on the hatch along action - chiming in from the scorching Houston, TX area. Today is day 18 of my broody Buff Orpington sitting on two eggs from my frizzle EE hen x Black Jersey Giant roo. I set up an old puppy camera so I can keep an eye on things without...

    Fantastic Frizzles! Frizzle owners/lovers unite!

My frizzle EE, Winnie. She is top hen in the flock and a complete goober. My Buff Orp is sitting on two Winnie eggs that are set to hatch 6/11. Fingers crossed that my very first hatch goes well - and for more frizzle babies!!
