Stop asking me personal questions! You are not my friend, you are barely an acquaintance. You are the neighbourhood gossip.
I've tried changing the subject, ignoring the question, or saying none of your business.
My next reaction might be something you can add to your gossip fodder.
Saw this on a sign. Hope to have the nerve to actually say it to someone.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason is you're stupid and make bad decisions.
Second saying is perhaps politically incorrect:
Punishable by fine means legal for a price.
The last school I worked at had 900 students. First fire or lock down drill was told ahead of time to staff. After that we were not warned so each was taken seriously. Several lock downs were the result of a bank robbery across the street. We even had to teach the children not to respond to...
Would it be rude to suggest someone start a thread for car buffs so this discussion can be moved there?
Lots of members use this site in an emergency. Help my whatever is sick. Tremendous effort is put for by other members offering suggestions. I like to think that most times the whatever...
I have no idea what that is
That I understand.
To clarify, I am not looking to buy a new vehicle. I just don't understand the obsession with looks, colours, fancy wheels, and add ons.
OK - I don't get the whole car thing. I just want a reliable vehicle that gets me from point A to B, cargo space, and can pull a trailer. Don't want loud. Don't want to leave tire marks on the road. There are so many other things to spend money on.
Hey everyone. This used to be a fun thread to follow where you could vent - safely. I hope you have not become reluctant for fear of getting dumped on.
Vent away.
Actually I do know his story. For instance he is working, and in a service industry that provides lots of social contact.
I don't know what kind of neighbourhood you live in. I live on a rural dead-end country road. We all know each other, respect each others privacy and property, but...
Hey Neighbour. You know the one that always offers to help. Well high winds last night, that continue today, tore the tarp roof off my duck run. I needed a second pair of hands. Instead I got an earful of gossip and a request for coffee. You're not helping. Go home!
It is much more satisfying, when you get good service, to call for a manager. Tell a manager what good service you got from an employee. The look of shock on both their faces, because they were expecting otherwise, is well worth the effort. Takes a few minutes of your time to make someone's day.
I would never do that. I just smile, nod, and silently respond.
In my perfect world, everyone would have to spend some time working in the service industry. There would be more appreciation for the conditions, the variety of customers you have to be polite to, and the pay.
I'm getting really tired of some overly cheerful clerk telling me to, "have a good one"
I've come pretty close to turning on them to say, "have a good what? "A nap because I'm old", or "A good xxxx" just to see the shock on their face.
Hey you. The person that honked at a tractor pulling farm equipment on a country road. Maybe next time, before you pass it unsafely, spitting up gravel at the rest of us, you might want to think about where you food comes from.
I've been concerned about the lack of emphasis/lost marks/etc when it comes to due dates. I believe it is teaching the wrong thing. Not many bosses are going to put up with employees who don't get things done on time.
Also for contractors and service people, saying you will be at my place some time tomorrow or this week is not good enough. If you can't organize your schedule better than that what is the quality of your work going to be.
I get that stuff happens so a couple of hour range is very acceptable...
