I move my broodies to an area separate from my flock.
I try to watch to make sure broodies leave the nest for at least a few min per day to eat and poop. Most days they dust bath also. After I see she is going out I don't watch her as close.
I do leave a small waterer near her nest but I do...
My birds came from a feed store that purchases from Hoover's hatchery. They have been some of the easiest good natured birds I've ever raised. They started laying last fall and have continued all winter and still going strong. Very large eggs right from the start.
The darker spotted eggs are...
The babies are exploring the territory like healthy babies do.
Kong hasn't figured out the chicks are not intruders but part of the flock.
Hopefully he will accept them.
Sometimes when I'm integrating young birds with the flock I will feed them separated by fencing for a few days. This puts...
Yes, thanks, I'm doing fine. I'm just busy planting my garden and flower beds right now so been posting less.
Right now I have no babies and too many eggs! 😂
Yes you can buy chicken sausage and and cold cuts, also turkey bacon at most groceries here. To me the store bought stuff is bland. The home made sausage was well seasoned and a little spicy. Totally different than the store stuff.
Like many things, homade taste best!
I knew someone who made chicken sausage. They have passed on now. I know they added some pork fat and sage. They used some other seasonings as well but I do not have a recipe. It was very tasty!
Aww, thank you.
To me the most difficult part of taking egg photos is lighting. It can be hard to get the true egg colors to show in photos. I find using natural, indirect light seems to take the best egg photos.
Of course I take several and try to choose the best shots. At least the eggs...

In the 2nd pic are any scales raised? Or is it just the area where to feathers join the leg?
When you look at the bottom of his feet make sure you check between the toes and the folds around the...
I gave the hen 250mg/ 2 times per day. I gave it for 7 days.
I would think he weighs more than my CLB hen.
In humans and dogs amoxicillin is give at least 2 times per day. Sometime 3.
If I could only dose my bird one time per day, that is what I would do.
Tell the warden, we're on this! Hopefully we can hit on something that will help. I get soooo attached to my pets. ❤️
Ask all the questions as many times as you want. No worries!
I gave my hen the same exact thing @Punkybrewster shows above.
I was just checking my notes and bottle.
My...
I still think this could be neurological, could be caused by a vitamin deficiency or other reason, or could be an inner ear infection. Inflammation or fluid in the ear could be a cause. I'm not a vet so it's really just a guess.
My hen was affected even worse. She was doing a lot of sitting...
