I guess I'm just used to really loud ladies. I don't consider your boys or mine loud, talkative they definitely are but not loud...lol...too cute tho. My boys all get together and talk like that to each other..I think it's so comical to watch
Mine chat constantly but every Drake of every breed I've had has been raspy and considerably quieter than the females. Currently I have Runners, Cayuga and Swedish drakes. My Cayuga girls and Pekin are probably loudest.
Yes, they were. I felt bad for bringing em back to house so I had to empty their kiddie pool and refill it with fresh cold water. They're all happy, again...lol
It is just a small Creek you can walk thru in many spots, only bout 6 to 8 ft wide, but has some deeper holes they like to swim in. I had lured em to it a couple times, but they never went on there own til today. It's less than 3 ft deep and only minnows n crawdads in it. So, I figure no more...
Everyone found their way to Creek by themselves today when I ran to the feed store! I came back and everyone was gone. I could here them splashing and quacking, went down to find them here having a good ole Time
Of the 7 eggs I started with 3 we're viable. 2 ducks developing as scheduled and a chicken. I had some issues with temp and humidity in the incubator as it was just a cheap countertop one. After 4 days in I moved the whole thing into a modified styro cooler and everything has been stable and...
Drakes are very quiet...some mute. This is reason you can sex before Drake feathers come in...the boys, if they aren't mute, have a low whispery quack and girls have typical quack. So to answer your question, No males are not loud.
Well I'm pretty sure it's my mallard laying the blue green eggs and not my runner. She stuck her bill in the bowl of oyster shell last night and didn't leave it for a minute. Then she got a drink and went back again. I really hope she goes broody.
Well, I got a small 7 egg incubator and decided to see if I can hatch some of my ducks eggs. I set them a lil bit ago and will keep everyone updated. I am not extremely familiar with this process but we will see how it goes. Hoping for at least one outta the 7 since I'm not extremely confident...
Yes it would...lol. My boy runners hold their heads real high and talk to each other it's so funny...it's like their bragging about conquests or planning something...lol. Then the girls do those lil quick quacks that sound like they're laughing. I love hanging out with them all. They're so...
Your babies are so cute...you can tell from the quack which is Drake/duck. The girls will make a definite quack while boys are much quieter, and some are mute. The males have sweetest lil whispery, hoarse voices. Mine crack me up when they all get together and start gabbing.
