I think my hatch is complete. The two eggs who were pipped just hatched on day 22 and omg are they noisy! It's 2 in the morning and they won't let me sleep! The two eggs who had nothing going are still doing nothing. If no progress I will candle later this morning to check for signs of life when...

Can you make a listing on Craigslist and ask to see if anyone would be willing to incubate the eggs for you? You could pay them per egg or let them keep half of what they hatch or something. Better than letting those eggs go to waste especially if they are rare or hard to find breeds.

I had an egg laid like that last month! The hen who laid it actually laid TWO eggs that day. One like your picture and a smaller normal looking one.

3 chicks out! The black chick was out yesterday (day 21) and the blue and reddish yellow hatched earlier today (still within day 21). Now it's officially day 22 and I have two external pips :) And two other eggs doing nothing but they were alive day 19 so I'm crossing my fingers for them.

Day 21! I had to leave for work but I left with 1 external pip out of 6 eggs. Hoping I come home to some babies! Father is an EE. Eggs are 1 from Australorp/Marans mix, 2 from Blue Marans, 3 from Red Ranger. The Australorp/Marans egg is the one pipped!

Today is day 20 and I've been struggling with the temperature since yesterday. Early day 19 the temperature was at 97 so I increased it and when I came back it was at 101.8! And now this morning day 20 I found it at 98.8! I how to chicks are OK. This is the first time I've had temperature...

Is 4 weeks old enough to start living outside without a heat lamp even at night? It hasn't dropped below 50 degrees F at night.

Here she is with her new baby! The broody is my Black Sumatra "Yin" and the baby is from a Rosecomb bantam/La Bresse mixed hen and Easter Egger rooster. I've named the baby "Twix".

External pip on the egg my broody is over! I'm off to work so I'll check for a chick poking out from between her feathers later

How long is it OK to let a broody be broody? My broody has been broody for 31 days now and she has one lone egg. If this egg doesn't hatch I have 7 in the incubator that I could give her that are on day 13 but I'm afraid I'd be hurting my hen health wise to let her go broody for so long.

How exciting! How are the color of the White Marans eggs? I've been thinking of getting one (or a few...) someday. So far I love the color my Cuckoo Marans is giving me.

I've been gone a few days, skipped lots of posts. Congrats to those with new chicks and to those who failed don't give up. My Broody has now been sitting for 31 days today is day 20 for her egg so hopefully we'll see a cute chickie either today or tomorrow. The egg is from a Rosecomb bantam and...

The bantam egg my broody was over is now on day 23/24 so I removed, candled and confirmed it to be a quitter. She is now sitting on a day 10 egg (her "backup" egg). This egg is from a Rosecomb Bantam and La Bresse mixed hen and the rooster is an Easter Egger. Because it's only 1 egg I started...
