Probably like shrimp, you really got to get the waste products cleaned out of them before cooking.

I'll bet you're feeling romantic after seeing that reception room. Be careful that some spinster lady doesn't turn your head.

I no longer do "surgery". I soak, apply Prid, or another brand drawing salve, and wrap with vet wrap. I do this once a day. The kernel is near the surface after a few of days of this routine. If it doesn't come out on its own, it is easy to squeeze out. Then I use antibiotic ointment for about 3...

I've had standard baby chicks running around the yard for several years. My broodies have kept the cats in check. I do however, keep the bantams in runs. The cats here must not be as aggressive. Although the sure go after the rabbits and squirrels.

Congratulations! I have two black cats, neither bother my chicks, though they will murder the wild birds.

The lip is deeper than it looks, as the floor curves in and down slightly. That's one of the things I like best about it. I can put a lot of straw in it without it all ending up on the floor. The bantam hens make a nice little hole in theirs.

They are big nests, perfect for brahma sized chickens. I use them in the bantam coops too, and they're great for a mama hen, and family. The little roost bar is useless but it is removable. I love the nests themselves. I have 7 of them, and most of the birds (& cats) prefer them too.

I'm sorry! Do you think it was age, illness, or predation? Any clue at all?

I like the little giant plastic nest boxes, for my broodies. The bottom is slightly curved. With a good amount of straw in it, my hens seem to have better hatch rates than they do on a flat surface nest box. They are easier to clean also.

I love Tina's "hair" All my naked neck hens have longer feathers on their crowns. I wish I could breed Tina to Goliath.

I use sulphur powder on fire ant beds. It work pretty well, but we get so many that I go through a lot of it. I used to use permethrin, but I have cats now, and I don't want to use something that's toxic to them.

They look pretty well feathered. They most likely do not need the heat lamp. At the very least, you should move it up quite a bit. You're going to have a beautiful flock.
