Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

First Eggs! Hi y’all. Hope everyone is doing well. I really need to try to stop in more often. But I definitely had to post today because two of my pullets laid their first eggs! Not sure which two, will have to pay more attention to them the next few days. And they have gotten so big and...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Hi everyone, and Merry Christmas! Sorry I haven’t been on in so long. I had already been having trouble keeping up with the thread and then my life pretty much imploded right before Thanksgiving. He is doing ok, but my husband had a heart attack and then a quadruple bypass. This came at a...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Yes, I’m still alive. Lol I am 800 pages behind, not sure I will ever catch up. Chooks are all fine, although several aren’t feeling the greatest due to molting. The babies are getting huge! Integration has been going well. Although they still get tossed off if they dare try to get up on the...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Updated chick pics came be seen here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/wyandotte-help-with-colors-please.1599349/ Jasmine is about the same. But really do think it is just molting. When I managed to examine her really closely I found little pin feathers everywhere.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

So to clarify a few things, she is 18 months old, so they are due for their first real Adult molt. What is weird is a lot of them have broken/missing feathers on their back at the base of their tail. But I haven’t found anyone plucking there (as opposed to below their vent where I have had...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I have checked her crop at night when they roost and first thing in the morning inf a couple of times. There isn’t much in it at bedtime and it is flat in the morning. When I take out bread, scratch, etc she will run after it but rarely seems to get much if she is with the other girls. When I...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I think something is wrong with Jasmine (my EE). She hasn’t laid an egg in over a week maybe even two weeks. I didn’t think anything of it at first because she had an impacted crop awhile ago, and I know they sometimes don’t lay well for a little while after that resolves. I only had to give her...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Chick update! So I went back to TSC early today. They had sold all the Lavender Orpingtons. ☹️ So I went home and called all the other TSCs within a 90 minute drive. Found one about an hour away that said they still had them. So hopped in the car and started driving while I called my TSC to...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Unfortunately it has been at least a week since any of my girls were broody. 🙄 Oh, I cant remember if I have posted the latest changes to our coop. Not that we don’t have any llamas left, we bought some plastic netting and enclosed the pen. So now they have a run that is about 24’x15’ that they...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I used a mama heating pad with my other girls. I was worried more about making sure they aren’t too hot than about keeping them warm. Will definitely put it in the coop as soon as I think they can handle the temperatures.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I used a blemish removal (pimple popping) tool. It isn’t the one I really wanted, but was the only one I could find on short notice at Walmart. I have one somewhere but haven’t used it in years and couldn’t find it. Here is what I wanted: Here is what I had to use: They have a lot of tools...

I am 300 pages behind, but wanted to post a link to a thread I just made about Speedy. Pretty sure she has an infected earlobe. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/hen-with-infected-earlobe-looks-similar-to-bumblefoot.1596281/

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

240 pages behind. Every time I almost get caught up I have a few busy days again and fall back behind. My chooks have survived the heat so far. Trying to figure out is Speedy is starting to mold or being picked on. No pics right now but her whole backside except a few tail feathers is bare. Yes...
