Black oil sunflower seed, good for ducks?

My young chickens have started eating the BOSS, and it's suposed to be a great substitute for scratch as it is higher in protein. (15%-16%) While feeding it to the chickens I heard crunching behind my back, I turned around and found my pekin girl snatching up the seeds that the chickens droped. She seemed to enjoy them. Are they good and safe for ducks? I haven't heard of anyone on the duck forums giving them to their ducks.

Anyone? Sunny ate some more behind my back and I want to make sure it's safe for her....

It is ok for her..but should only be given in very small quantities as a treat as they are high in fat as well.

can they crunch through the shells? I guess I assumed the seeds would just go through them whole.

How much can you be feeding the chickens if you feel you need to pick them up? I thought they were considered a treat? anyways, sprouting sunflower seeds add nutrients and some of those wouldn't hurt as treat either, I give my chicken it plain and sprouted, spouting makes it a two in one treat. Get a strainer /colander place them in it,wet them really good ,I keep mine in my sink at all times so I can rinse them 3 or so times a day. I tried the normal jar way but this is easier as you have to rinse and drain.
