So, it is her tongue. You’re absolutely right. I have no idea what to do as it seems to require surgery to fix.Yes, please look inside her beak with a light. Take a picture if possible. If the tongue is normal, I would suspect that could be a benign teratoma or dermoid cyst. Those are benign tumors in which bone, nail, hair, and organ tissue may be found. But the rough looking skin around the hard tissue looks like tumor or old infection. How is she eating and drinking?
Yes it isWas it her tongue?
I helped someone with this when their duck tore underneath the bill and the tongue fell through. But it was almost immediately after...so I don't know if you can do anything here as it's dried. With the duck, we just pushed the tongue back through and closed the wound underneath, but I think since it's so hard and dry now it may just fall off. Maybe someone else has an idea here? So, it is her tongue. You’re absolutely right. I have no idea what to do as it seems to require surgery to fix.
Do you know what to do or does she need to be put down? It is her tongue.Could it possibly be her tongue (that's dried hard)? I've seen cases where birds get a tear under their beaks and the tongue falls through and hardens.
Maybe start by cleaning it as much as you can and clearing the debris. See if the tongue is still wet/pink.Do you know what to do or does she need to be put down? It is her tongue.
Can she still drink and eat on her own? Offer her wet down chicken food, to make it easer for her to eat.Do you know what to do or does she need to be put down? It is her tongue.
