Burford Brown--UK only?

Pretty sure that chap from Legbars of Broadway is creator and only breeder of them so they would be UK only. I bought 12 eggs from him and hatched a pair in December, they are 10 weeks old now. The eggs they came from weren't super dark. They are clearly Marans derived but egg colour was nothing like a good Marans egg, more like an average Wellie egg. Obviously can't comment on production as mine are too young yet.

found a pic of the eggs. I was a little disappointed but we will see how the pullet lays at the start of her cycle.

Hi Highlander!
Sometimes I forget BYC is global, so it was really cool to hear from you. Thanks for posting pics of your birds and eggs. I, too, will be interested to hear how they lay, and how dark.

Not the only place to get them from, although still only UK based, I have someone down the road from me in Oxfordshire breeding them (although last year they had a Lavender Araucana Roo in with them too, so the eggs I got are LavAraucanaXBurford Brown mixes (my choice, as I was aiming for unusual coloured eggs, which has worked). Although as Burford is in Oxfordshire, I guess we might have a few more breeders down our way.

Thought I would update you on my BB's. They are 20 weeks old now.

I am still waiting (impatiently) for the pullet to lay her first egg. They are fairly flighty birds but the cockerel is non-agressive and has grown up to be rather a handsome chap I think. Pity we have to eat him!
