I've not done it with any of the others, and they're pretty much all fertile. But I have heard of others that do that. I guess I could give that a try as it doesn't hurt a thing.

I would just test it out. I only think it’s the rare bird that needs it, but it could definitely make a difference in some cases!

The FIRST buff chick ever hatched yesterday!

I am still ecstatic as I've been trying since February. The buff rooster I had in there must've been too young, or just couldn't manage to do it right, and the other one I have is his sibling so figured the same thing with him. I waited to get the lemon cuckoo rooster from Bobbi Porto, Florida, and after he acclimated to Wisconsin, I put him (Lester) in with the three buff hens. Seeing a lot of infertiles with him too, but yesterday, history was made here! One made it! Should be many more in the future!

Did you try giving vent trims?? Thats the only thing I can think may help?

I did that with a few of my other hens who have extremely fluffy butts! I noticed when the Roo was breeding them I couldn’t see his vent or the ladies!

Did a trim and I found the old boy spent less time groping around. Looks rather rude but did the job (yes I did feel like a pervert peeking at their undercarriage ).
