HELP!

Henrietta has PTSD or depression or SOMETHING. She won't even stand up. I put a bandage on her to protect her from other chickens and tried to integrate her back into the flock but they all attacked her.

She hasn't eaten and barely drinks. She has lost so much weight. Her will to live is gone.

I need advice on how to help my friend. Does anyone know what to do??

UPDATE

My sweet little friend has died miserable and alone. My heart is broken. Thank you to all who were so kind and helpful, thank you for believing in me and my hen.

Have you given her any Poultry NutriDrench or electrolytes today? I would give her fluids first with a dropper and then try mushy chick feed and egg. Tube feeding would be your best best. You cannmake a feeding tube with aquarium air tubing or oxygen tubing and a large syringe. That would be good for fluids, and then when she is rehydrated, you can try some thin mushy feed. Here is a good thread about tube feeding:

Thank you. I will pick up some electrolytes for her.

My dogs attacked my poor chicken Henrietta. I know this only happened because she is so friendly/trusting and doesn't run as fast as the other chickens. This is the sweetest chicken there is. She follows me around and stands on my shoulder and arms all the time. I really like her. It's the middle of winter and her wounds aren't too bad but she has absolutely no feathers (except for her head) because my dogs like to take the feathers off of my chickens and leave them like that. They have done it before. They just rip their feathers out and leave. It wouldn't be as big a deal but it's freezing where I live and my chicken is shivering.

I'm really scared she will freeze to death. I have a heater in a small cage with blankets on it that she's in right now and I am feeding her eggs. It sounds really awful to feed a chicken eggs but she needs protein. I have sprayed her with Poultry Wound Spray and gave her a small bath (warm obviously) but she is still filthy and very shaken up. She's so cold and scared. I want to put her with the other chickens but it's too cold to be in the coop without feathers and I'm afraid they will peck at her.

Should I bandage her? Will she get too hot with the heater? What should I set it to? What should I feed her? I need help. Please if you know anything tell me what to do!!

EDIT: Everyone who is saying it's cruel to let my dogs out with the chickens at the same time, I'm sorry I didn't really explain what happened.

Someone was cleaning the coop and left the gate unlocked, and I let the dogs out, because I thought that the gate had been closed. It was a misunderstanding. I'm not a cruel person and it was an accident!

People are so rude! I’m sorry this happened! But things happen! These are the people who act like they’re perfect. I’ve had 3 chickens die from hawks because we just figured it out. I’ve also had my one rooster almost kill my other. This forum is for people to talk and get advice not to be rude and arrogant. It’s not like you’re using chickens to practice for your dogs to kill. I don’t think you’re a bad person! I think that people are missing the point of this forum. You don’t need to beat your dogs or something crazy. They are dogs. It’s nature. Things happen! But keep her warm! You could get a sweater for her 💜 but keep her to herself till she’s okay. You’re feeling obviously a caring person if you’re asking for help and don’t want her to suffer!

Thank you. My chicken has died and my heart is broken but thank you for being so kind.

I am very sorry for your loss. When I first got chickens, after they were almost full grown some decided to fly up on and over my 4 foot fence into my yard with my dogs. Our golden retriever on 3 separate occasions caught one and played with. Fortunately the first 2 were rescued in time, but we had ordered a shock collar after the first time to help train him. The last one unfortunately died, and we shocked him exactly twice with the dead chicken next to him. I am not a fan of shock collars, but after that day, we never had to use it again. He would not come near the chickens again, and even trained each new dog to avoid them. Later we had 2 yard chickens that couldn’t live in the big coop, and our 3 dogs to this day just ignore them. The one exception is with chicks and small pullets—I know we cannot trust them with small ones.

The way I understood it from his post is: my dogs normally do that and it is OK as long as they just rip of some feathers.
Nope. That’s not what’s being said. I can only speak for myself... but I would ask is for you to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Tragedy happens... things are being done to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I care about the chicken... I also care about the keeper of the chicken.

Unfortunately you so interpreted it wrong. Also if someone was doing that on purpose why would they ask for help? 🤔 lol never did she once say “so I always let my chickens run out and let my dogs attack them then I ask for medical advice to make me feel good”
