Dog got my blue copper marans today, I managed to retrieve her thankfully. Upon closer inspection ( not by me, I'm far too squeamish) we found she had a few wounds on her back between her wings. Apparently one of them was pretty deep. Hubby managed to calm her down and all we had on hand was super glue to patch her up quickly. We sprayed her with the purple spray stuff and I've got her in a dark quiet room with food and water at the moment. I've given her gamebird starter(unmedicated) as it's 28% protein. Haven't checked if she's eaten or drank yet because I figured I'd give her some time to settle instead of stressing her out more. Is there anything else I can give her or do for her to make her more comfortable? I've got poultry electrolytes and a vitamin solution on hand. I've been feeling sick to my stomach all day thinking about her and worrying if she's suffering. She's only 20ish weeks old. Did I do the right thing by trying to help her or am I just making it worse? I feel horrible about what happened.

I believe electrolytes are good for shock, pictures of her wound and what your using to treat her would be good too, I’ll tag some more experienced people

I think it would be better to give it now, I’ve had chickens pass away from shock overnight
Oh no that's horrible. Thanks for the advice, I will get right onto that now. It's okay just to put it in her water or is it better to syringe feed her some? I'm scared of the syringe method, don't want her to aspirate

I prefer to let them drink on their own by dipping the beak into the water. Or use a pipette or dropper to the beak with a drip on it to take a little at a time. Water with sugar 1 tsp per cup or electrolytes and vitamins, Pedialyte, and Gatorade are all good for shock. Offer watery feed and egg once she is able to take it. Clean the wound twice a day and apply some antibiotic ointment until it heals. I had to look up the wound spray Centrogen, but it looks like it also has Deet to keep flies away from wounds. Do you feed 28% protein most of the time? For most chickens 20% is enough. Let us know how she gets along.

We use the spray on our horses usually so that's what we had on hand. No, the gamebird starter I have for my quails but I know extra protein is good for when chickens need help recovering from things so I mixed it with water to make a mash. I've put a poultry electrolyte solution in her water now. The chickens are fed 16%-18% premium layer pellets as their main feed usually.
Apparently the wound was very deep like you could see her insides deep so it will be a miracle if it missed all her vital organs. I wasn't aware of that fact until just now so now I'm even more stressed about her. If it is so bad and there's internal bleeding, how soon would I know? Or would she just die pretty quickly? I don't want her to suffer, I feel horrible for her.
Thank you so much for your advice
