Duck eggs day 27

I tried to twist a tiny hole into the bruise before I had to leave for work, but it was very hard and I was nervous about applying too much pressure. I’ll work on it again once I get home tonight. As far as the other ones, should I attempt the same thing?
Yes you can give the rest safety holes in the air cell. It can be difficult to drill through the shell. I find it easier to scratch an “X” pattern back and forth until I have weakened a spot, and then twist the screw to make the tiny hole

I managed to get a hole in the one with the bruise, I’ll work on the rest here shortly. There’s still movement but maybe not as much, and still no pips.

They move less right before they begin to hatch. If they are not internally pipped do not make safety holes. If they are internally pipped you technically can. The bruising is simply a duckling that is starting the process to externally pip and hit a vein. Usually it is not a problem. My first time hatching albeit was years ago, but mine hatched day 29-30. Once I started using pre-calibrated analog thermometers inside I was able to get it more precise, but again what you are seeing is normal for a first hatch.

Oh no, I already went ahead and made the holes… I did candle to make sure I only did it in a clear space. The air cells are much smaller and the ducks are more active inside, I hope I didn’t screw it up.

If the bruise is outside the air cell, near the pointy end like yours is - usually that means the baby is trying to hatch there. often those ducklings can hatch ok, but sometimes they need help.
Hopefully you get some pips today

If the air cells look smaller, they have probably internally pipped. air cells don’t get smaller, so probably what you’re seeing is ducklings inside the air cell. Keep going and hope for the best!

No that gives them more air if they pip I have never seen a pin hole in the air sack cause a problem. But full size ducks usually don't need help getting out of the shell they have longer necks and bills call ducks and assie spots have shorter necks and bills and sometimes need help. good luck and post pics of the duckling.

The one with the bruise pipped yesterday, the rest haven’t yet but they are definitely alive. One is rocking like crazy, the others are fairly still but do move every so often.
