I don't know who Rob is.......but......I will answer. It was no bigger than a stick stuck in the ground when we bought the house. I have a photo somewhere, I will look for it.Mine also grows well, and generally flowers well, very hardy - it’s the rabbits that do mine in!
Rob, did you literally mean a stick? I can throw a Willow stick in the ground and 5 yrs later it will be a big tree…
I would love to plant a magnolia at the barn in the chickens run. They are lovely shade trees with their big leaves.
It did have roots. They don't work like a willow stick.
