They are growing up.

Glad I saw this! I am behind - very busy at work - we are under a Catastrophe Code at work, people still don’t have power, it’s crazy.

Anywhooo I am browsing for a baby photos fix ♥️

Everyone have a splendid evening - I am bushed, early chores and early work tomorrow. Still haven’t won the lottery….. so need to work!

Ok here is a BFTP thirsty Thursday

July 2023 (for RC 🥰)

Chick Update

The difference between Day old and 3 day old chicks is striking. I've never had day old chicks before only 3 day old chicks.

I was sort of concerned at how inactive they seemed to be the first day. They just mostly stayed under the brooder. Let me tell you something. 3 day old chicks are a bundle of energy. Scratching and running around. That was what I was used to seeing. I really was concerned about the "un-named" chick as it wasn't doing much. Just hanging out under the brooder.

Those concerns are gone. These are the chicks I am used to.

I think we have a name for chick 2. Eve has been calling her Chirpy. Mrs BY Bob loves Niamh. The name was suggested by @LozzyR as I did not know the name or story.

Here's a link for those who are interested: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niamh_(mythology)

So Eve and Mrs BY Bob have agreed her name is Niamh and her nickname is Chirpy. We shall see if it sticks.

Peep-peep. Peep-peep.
So many things to talk about!

I don’t mind in The Hen Houses at night, in the winter the temps stay near freezing point or a bit above. I’ll split them up again in the summer and put half in the Summer House at night.

Bit I am thankful I ended up having the hen house in the barn - it is a great place for them to roam during the day even if they do make a terrible mess 😉
I think it is an excellent setup and reminiscent of the setup the farmer up the road from us when I was a young lady. They had the cow, horse, cats, and chickens all in one barn.
