I’m finding this hard to believe, but mama hen laid an egg today.
Her chicks are only a few weeks old and she’s laying eggs again?
What a prolific egg laying hen!
And she’s a little pain in the neck!
Is it time to separate her from the little ones? She wants out of the house so badly, will she be okay without them being with her? I’m letting them get fully feathered before putting them in the run outside.

I’m wondering what to do about it?

She's weaning them. If she's still sheltering them at night, she's not entirely done, but getting them to independent during the day. If she's not sheltering them at night. She's FONE and is turning over care to the rooster....

Hot Tubbing!

Having eaten all of the pansies, Aster is now bathing in Phyllis' old hot tub.

I will never have flowers in that pot.

Ahh hahh! So now we now know who the culprit is!

Well three different eggs - a blue one, brown and pink.

And I found another pink one in Reenie’s stall - I bet it was laid on the hay net and fell onto the straw bedding!

I am seriously rethinking having flowers and tomatoes and such at the barn ever again.

I would say as long as she is staying with them and letting them snuggle under her she is good to stay with them. Georgie still snuggles her dumplings and they are about 20 weeks now.
