Speaking especially about the neighbor. Why have animals, if you can’t care for them? They need food, water and shelter. My pets get even more than that. They get my love and attention every chance I get.
Maybe he's the type not to keep as pets but that breeds to sell them as cock fighters?🙁

These chickens are not dead…. Just play acting 😊

10 precious little puffs. They are SO friendly and cute. Hubby says they're staying inside "at least three weeks so we can make sure they're friendly. I want my #&!%# cuddle chickens."
😆
They are darlings. 🥰

Re: oyster shell, I've found there's 2 types of oyster shell. 1 is roundish pebbles and the other is flakes. The pebbles seem to be limestone while the flakes are from sea shells. They like the pebbles least and the returned egg shells most.
The only oyster shell for sale around here is the pellet stuff. I ordered a box of the flakes, and the pieces seemed to be rather large. I didn't see any improvement, so I didn't order it again.

I'm going to order the liquid stuff and give that a try.

Isolate any sick or injured bird from the flock immediately so the others don't do additional damage. Then of course apply any necessary treatments until the bird is truly healed. I pray your sweetie recovers💕

Silkies & Polish have open skull bone which makes them more susceptible to head/brain injuries.

She is in isolation! I had heard before that they had vaulted skulls, so that’s another reason I separated her as soon as I saw she had a head injury. Sadly when I saw it, it was already very bad.
I’ll see what I can do for her tomorrow… I’ve not been on here since I posted my emergency post.

Marble and I fed the chickens earlier. I came out with the bucket, he looked at me, pecked the feeder, then the bucket, then looked back at me. Understood, my good sir! I filled the feeder and he proudly called everyone to the meal he prepared for them. 😍🥰 he even let me stroke his wing without any fuss.

So cute ~ Chickens don't vocalize like a parrot can when they want something but they sure still know how to let us know what they want/need ❣️ Our hummingbirds would fly up to our face to chirp at us to refill their syrup feeder❗
