Honestly, reading the articles on how to cooperate with a rooster when I first started helped a lot. Lots of body language talk and respect. Marble makes it very easy to give him what he needs, I'm sure the young punks I'm raising will give me problems at some point.

Heck, the little red owl-faced cochin chick, he is a MENACE. Started screeching when I was reading bedtime stories to kiddo, and when I came out to double check, he just wanted my hands around the brooder plate. Nope, nuh-uh, I'm not spoiling you THAT much buster!
He carried on for over fifteen minutes! Eventually he fell asleep mid-cheeeeeeeep
I was so worried at first though! I was checking everything, checked bums and beaks and feet, made sure the heater was just right...everything.

Good evening, everyone. What has everyone been up to on this fine Mother's Day. I gave my mother some gifts and of course she was happy to receive them all. Of course, she wasn't expecting too many but it's okay to spoil your mother for just one day, right? Anyways, let me know what you have all been up to and I'll read your responses tomorrow. Spent a Mother’s Day only doing what I love: reading, drinking tea, caring for my chooks and having some good family time. Great day, even had a fun thunder-hail-storm in the middle of it all and had to go protect my seedlings that I was hardening off

I had a really nice Sunday afternoon snack going, but Coco decided to steal all the roasted beef off my plate. All I had left was the carrots and the potatoes all rotten.

It’s now past their bedtime and I bet Coco has a very full belly, having been filled by my gourmet lunch. In as much as losing my meal, I still love my sweet Coco:
