I might need to try straw for my girls.Clean Coop = Fun
Mine were enjoying the clean coop today.
The straw is always a big hit!
It was over 50°F (10°C) so I cleaned the coop and did other assorted things in the yard. The girls enjoyed the weather and I loved being outside.
I even put some straw in Hattie House for Hattie and locked the other out so Hattie could enjoy it in peace.

I understood that. Thank you!Basically, it's another sex-link. Red (gold) covers the silver. Pullets get the silver from papa, no gold from mama so are silver. Cockerels get silver from papa and gold from mama. Silver washes the gold to a lighter tone (yellow) so cockerels will be light gold. Basically, they'll look like Whiskey's breast (no black tail, I think), but lighter. All will have crests like your legbar ladies.
What a handsome couple they make! For those who have been sad for George on loosing his silkie girls. Yes, that includes myself by the way. After today's observations I can safely say to not feel bad for George. He now has a new leading lady who he is shadowing and vice versa.
Who is the new object of George's affection you many ask?
None other then this pretty lady Mrs. E

Show us a picture of the label!Tylan soluable 100g
Dose is 50mg/kg
But I have no idea how much 50mg is. I just can’t seem to find this info anywhere.
All they say is the whole lot in 50 gallons of water - a little more than I need really….
Is 50mg a tsp, half a cup… just what is this 50mg dose in measurement?
Help! @bgmathteach and @BY Bob
My two brainiacs!
Wonderful! You had a lot of melt in the last few days.It was a lovely evening here, had the gang out for some eggcitement.
1/8 to 1/16 is divided by 2. 500mg to 50mg is divided by 10. Something's off in the calculation thing.Just for an example: I selected both 500mg water then 500mg powdered sugar then 500mg Other & always got 1/8 tsp no matter the density? I would be doing the same thing you're going to do for Clyde at 50mg = 1/16.
Agreed. They would be stunning!I understood that. Thank you!
I also am confident they will be pretty chickens.
Personally i would wait for the mg scale. Drug dosing using an assumed density to go from weight to volume seems risky to me.1/8 to 1/16 is divided by 2. 500mg to 50mg is divided by 10. Something's off in the calculation thing.
Have you asked your vet about what they got you?Hmmmm so 1/4 tsp is 1000mg (1g).
I only need 50mg! Hmmmmm this is complicated.
Well I went and ordered a kitchen scale that does mg weight on Amazon, so should be here tomorrow. Hopefully it arrives early.
In the meantime I will think about dosing the whole flock. It’s 500mg/L so I can do 2000mg (2g) easily, and fill up my 4L container. That would be 1/2 a tsp - easy enough to measure out.
I can always syringe that mixture into Clyde to make him get some.
I can always waste any eggs if I don’t feel comfortable finding a definitive answer to the egg withdrawl.
