My polish have always been pretty quiet as well.

Looks sort of rose comb.....crossed with a v-comb? V-comb crosses can do funny things. Cheetah's rose comb crossed with Thing's V came out looking pure rose x 2 on pullets. Not sure if gender affects the shape of the comb beyond roo vs hen size.
I was thinking it looked like it might be a buttercup comb??? Not sure what they look like until fully developed, as I have never has a buttercup combed bird......but it doesn't look like how my rose comb wyandottes looked like this past fall as they grew - their combs looked more 'smooshed' and they were 'filled in' more in the center. That said, this was the first time I had anything but a single comp or pea comb in my flock. I would like to see more pics of it in a few weeks to monitor how the comb develops as s/he ages!

Sicilian Buttercup Chickens: About the ...

What does a v comb look like when it does 'funky things' when combined with some other comb type?

Emotional support chicken therapy was activated this evening. Thanks to my brother I was left with 2 options, go sit with the chickens and cry or murder him. If I open my oven, I still get the urge to choke him.

He is a excellent cook, and today he went all out trying to be happy. Broke out the smoker for brisket, and fixed steaks on it for the first time which were a success. He also decided to make cakes and that is where disaster struck. He ended up making a lemon Bundt cake for mom, a strawberry cake in a round pan and a vanilla cake for dad in a normal 9x13 pan. Considering he has made cakes for ages I did not think he needed supervised. Oh how wrong I was. First mess up was he tried to bake all 3 at once in the oven. He had to lower one of the racks and had the Bundt pan and the round pan on the top shelf. He then had the 9x13 on the bottom rack. Mess up #2 which I do not know what he was thinking and the critical mistake. He used 2 boxes of cake mix for that one pan. He did not check the cakes until the strawberry one was almost done and by then it was too late. Cake batter everywhere, bottom of my oven, the racks, bottom of the round pan, you name it it was on it. I happened to walk into the kitchen as he was trying to remedy that fiasco and my jaw hit the floor. I turned around, announced I was not cleaning that up and walked away and went outside to my chickens plotting murder. He managed to get them all baked and they did taste good, but my poor oven. He promised tomorrow after work he is stopping my wal-mart and picking up some oven cleaner and will clean it. He had better because if I end up having to do it I will hurt him.

Discussion about with pics from someone's breeding experiment.

V-comb is INcompletly dominate, so good odds it will show up, but not completely over write the other comb gene.

3 toes? But chickens have FOUR toes & some have FIVE? I guess chickens aren't what most people associate as dinosaurs after all? There's been some debate that chickens aren't reptilian at all. Chickens as all birds have been classified under the dinosaur umbrella but T-Rex & chickens are not related ~ just as humans are classified under the mammal umbrella like dogs are but humans & dogs aren't related (despite some owners LOOKING like their dogs) 😂.

The duck-billed platypus lived along dinosaurs but is classified a mammal that lays eggs? Crazy!

Reminds me of I Love Lucy when Ricky & Fred cooked dinner. After watching this my DH doesn't seem so messy anymore:

The rice, yup, that is what the cake did. I love my brother, I do. He is a wizard when it comes to the smoker. He can cook just about anything, he made homemade Lasagna last night. He can bake as well. Today, well, today was just not his day.

I will give him credit though for trying to celebrate. We do have many things to be thankful for today and celebrate. Dad's birthday today. Tomorrow he starts his new job with the city. His girlfriend started being a paid extern at the hospital this weekend. She signed a contract for this and as soon as she graduates nursing school in 16 months will be hired on as a RN. Many things to be happy about, he just tried to do too much.

I'm still not cleaning that oven though.
