Hey I came across this picture not here but on the web. I thought it might spark some interest, I know I keep going back to it and scratching my head.

The Rooster is a Chimera, it is both a Black Copper Maran and a Barred Rock. Nature is crazy sometimes!

That's good news. Cramped spaces are not good.

I don’t mind in The Hen Houses at night, in the winter the temps stay near freezing point or a bit above. I’ll split them up again in the summer and put half in the Summer House at night.

Bit I am thankful I ended up having the hen house in the barn - it is a great place for them to roam during the day even if they do make a terrible mess

It's DH & my anniversary today 29 yrs. It's also the anniversary of getting our first 2 backyard chicks 14 yrs ago

The thing that had the breeder flummoxed is that Sylvie’s underlying color is basically white. No sign of the characteristic blush on the chest or brown (I am sure there is an official name for the color) on her back. She is not just a pale version of what she is supposed to look like.
Breeder had never seen a Welbar like her and I was a tad worried he would want her back to breed from her!

No, it is not photoshopped or AI, the Roo is a Genetic Chimera. It can happen to people and any animal actually its just a really rare occurrence.
