Always fun to be reminded that chickens are domesticated, not tamed

And they're well equipped to defend themselves and their babies!

So cool... We've domesticated dinosaurs..!

First up, do we think this little lady is fibro? Usually their combs are peachy by now...she's got hairy legs too.

She has mottled pink and black on her toes. Reminds me of Nocturne to be honest.

And finally, just finished this candycorn polish for a charity raffle winner. I tried something new with the tail and I love it.

It's never easy when we remember them. :hugs :hugs :hugs
I knew I would always remember her. I just never knew I would miss her so much. Thanks to her I have a deep respect for gamebirds. She was a survivor. They are tough, smart although albeit evil at times. If I could have her back I would go through it all again.

Would I willingly take on another one just like her. Nope, not in a million years.

Turkey, well, Turkey is a happy accident. She is not full game she is half silkie. Turkey is still wild. I cannot tame that chick and let me tell you I have tried. I thought confining her would make it easier, hah, she is worse. I touch her and she screams bloody murder and my sweet silkies turn on me. Poppet and Davy are the worst when I try to handle Turkey. Davy takes his job as a protector very seriously and how dare I handle Poppets baby. Both have came at me ready to fight. I let her go. I do not need to ruin my relationship with my rooster over her. I've tried hand feeding her. When she does finally come close instead of eating the food she bites me. She may mellow out when she starts laying or she may get worse.

At times, I have thought of giving her to my boss Betty. She has worked wonders with Karen who is now a really lovable hen.

It's not a super emergency, he's eating and drinking well and I made him a cardboard boot yesterday that worked so well he took off running. I think he will be ok. I followed a search looking for diy splint and it led me here. sorry if I'm off topic
I believe we like to help when we can. Almost all of us have had some sort of foot/leg issues w/ our birds.

I didn't see a tail but the polish poof is ingenious. I also 🩷 the feet.

Aggressive game bird hen. :barnie
She thinks that the whole house is her personal brooder. She is very temperamental and flogs me every chance she gets.
If it wasn’t for the babies, would introduce her to my shotgun (it has a temperamental trigger too)
She’s a mama protecting her babies - even Georgie took a few bites out of me (definitely Marty’s baby!), I don’t take it personally. Even had one of my
Mares try to bite my face off one day (literally!), I didn’t chastise her, she didn’t want me mucking about with her baby.

You know actually Georgie is the only mama here who has bitten me come to think of it!
