Congratulations Rosie! I am feeling optimistic she will get past 21 if that is what she wants to do.Whohoo ACT results came in late last night. Rosie took it for the 2nd time 2 weeks ago. First time around she got a composite score of 16. This time the composite score is 20. 20 is good enough for a few of the colleges she is looking into. She is taking it 2 more times in the next year. Her guidance counselor told her 21 is the magic number but the higher she can get it the better the scholarships available to her.
She also has a new interest beside forensics. A Morehead State University rep has been to the high school a few times this year and she talked to them. She found out they have a Aeronautics program. My child is now talking about building and designing air planes or spaceships.
I am ok with this school. I like it actually. Morehead is about a hour and a half to a hour and 45 minutes away. This one would give the the "going off to college" experience that she needs but still she is close to home if a emergency happened.

So aptly put![]()
That’s a Friday and a Monday picture!
I will support any decision she makes as far as college goes. That's about how far from home I was when I went to college. It's far enough you don't come home every weekend so that's good if that is the experience she is looking for.

I am sure she will make you proud whatever she decides!I will support any decision she makes as far as college goes.
From my perspective as a parent, I feel going away and living in a dorm setting will be wonderful for her. She needs a little taste of "mommy is not always going to be right next door". This is hard for me to say that as she has also looked into University of Pikeville which is literally 5 minutes away. They offer criminal justice and computer forensics which she is still interested in. Between the financial aid options she can do all 4 years with very minimal costs and is the most affordable right now. The drawback, even for her freshmen year she can stay at home. It is a good school though so if she chooses it that is great.
She has considered University of Kentucky and Transylvania University. Both great options and only 3 hours away. I will not let her hear this but the thought of her living in Lexington scares me to death. Lexington is rough and nightly on the news when I tune in it is always stories of shootings. I myself need to learn to "let go" so to speak as a parent.
University of Georgia has always came up in conversations since she was about 11. I do not know why but she has Georgia on the brain and it is still almost front and center. It is a couple states away which gives this momma a little internal grief but at least she will be on the same coast as me.
Personally, I am a huge fan of Morehead. Morehead is a college town but it is not nearly as rough as Lexington.
I am just thankful at the moment she has not mentioned Louisville once. I know it is a great school but good grief the crime, it is worse then Lexington. You can also just shoot me now if out of the blue she decides to head out west to California. I'm sorry no offense to those that live out there, but, please do not even go there Rosie.
At least us Californians don’t have a college named Transylvania!I will support any decision she makes as far as college goes.
