Hello BYC! So I have eight ducks(3 runners 1 black Swedish 1 mystery Breed 3calls). Does anybody know how I can get my ducks to come to me? They usually stay as far away as they possibly can. They have access to food and water all day. Should I start only feeding them in the morning and at night that way they come when I call? Soon they’re going to have a big run so they can forage most of the day. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do?

Also, does anybody know what breed of duck he is? he’s about four months old. There’s also a picture of him as a duckling.

Any help would be very appreciated! Thank you!

I make all duck, goose, chickens and guineafowl all come to me because I only feed in the morning and evening. I make one type of noise as always when feeding them and when they hear the specific noise it's a call, so they call when its feeding time.
OK, thank you I’ll try that once their new run is done. Thanks for the reply.!

Yep, x3! Feed morning and evening, and have a feeding call. Mine is, “food food!” or if it’s treats, then it’s, “treat treats!”

Though, I’m at the point where I hand feed them so often, if they so much as see me or hear me, they’ll come running!
Will my hens still lay eggs if I only feed morning and night?
My hens lay like crazy. I can barely keep up:th

Edit: Also, for your mystery duck.. Golden 300?

I’m not sure that’s what I thought for actually a really long time but then I heard that they’re sex-linked and he’s a boy not a girl and I heard only the girls look like the duckling I had. he’s a handsome boy and right now he’s starting to look like a whitish mallard. I’m just confused. Could he be a silver apple yard?
