My hen escaped and came back badly injured

@ChickNanny13 - thanks for the how-to on okai rice. We've been using boiled rice for years (the classic BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, toast), but I never knew I should be cooking it twice. Hopefully, I won't need it for awhile, but when I do ... I'll be ready!

And @MindiWynne - If you liked Pop's chicken schmitt assessment, then you'll love his latest ... No chickens ... but ... Pop was hospitalized two weeks ago with a heart issue. We thought we'd lost him, but within hours, modern medicine worked his wonder, and he was admitted for some more tests and treatments. We knew he was going to be okay when the night nurse asked him if he was diabetic, and his dead-pan response was, "No. I'm Italian."

Hi all,
It has been three weeks since Marsala came home injured and she's still ticking along. I think she is starting to hate me because the weather here in Ohio has turned damp and cold so she's not getting out of jail as often as I was allowing before. Her wound is healing but omg, so slowly and I dont know what Im looking at each day. But she is stil eating, drinking and pooping so her crop is still working. When I do her daily medical routine I have been gently massaging the crop to make sure theres no food in it. Ive been reading about Sour Crop and other issues so I dont have to address those, too.
Her skin flaps have not quite grown together but they are starting to sprout feathers! So I dont know if I should try to trim what I think is necrotic tissue just leave it to fall off. Every day she gets squirted with Vetricyn Plus then Im alternating between neosporin and medi-honey. Also, I remembered that when my husband had a skin graft they prescribed Nivea creme to keep the skin supple and since we had some unopened Im using that, too. Im not bandaging it any more either.
I also discovered a wing wound that Im treating as much as she'll let me. I think that hurts her more than her chest gashed open. She looks like she could have been a Zombie Chicken for Halloween but I guess as long as she keep acting normal and feisty I'll just keep doing what Im doing for however long it takes

You are an amazing chicken Mom. You should be so proud of what you have done for that very lucky hen. I am amazed at the progress she has made. Again well done

Nice Job!

Chickens heal up very well from wounds

Marsala has started wheezing and has a goopy eye. She still seems feisty but I dont think she is eating or drinking as much and she has lost some weight. She did eat some pot roast on Friday and chicken stew on Thursday, and her feeder does have less food in it, but Im very concerned. I gave her veraflox this morning but I have Tylan now, too. Can I give her Tylan if she had the veraflox? I dont want to overdose her.

You have done a great job with her wounds. I would use the Tylan if the goopy eye seems like MG, a respiratory disease. Dosage of Tylan 50 is 0.25 ml (1/4 ml) per pound of weight given ORALLY 3 times a day. If you have Tylan powder it is 1 tsp per gallon of water.
