I just lost my only white wyandotte cockerel to what I assume is fowl cholera. I tried what I could but he just couldn't fight it. Now my white hen is starting to get sick again and I want to do everything I can to prevent it from getting as bad as the cockerel. Also, the cockerel is being dropped off for necropsy this afternoon.
Set Up
I can either keep her in:
- a small crate with shavings
- a large wooden brooder type box with shavings (air flow isn't the best, the top is all wire but the rest is all wood
- a wire cage with wire bottom
Symptoms
- Wheezing
- Crackle sound when breathing
- No swelling at all unlike the cockerel
- Some sneezing
- Eating and drinking normally
Medication
- I have started her on Tylan50 0.75 cc 2 times a day
- I ordered a sulfa drug that will hopefully be here in two days
- Normal mini pellet feed
- Poultry Cell in water for vitamins
Is there anything else I could do to set her up for a speedy recovery?
