So I have a bird that was hatched in July. Looked very feminine until it didn't, and is a rooster. But it has not crowed one time. I am not interested in keeping him and probably process him this week. I have never had a non-crowing rooster. I can't help but laugh, I want a rooster to crow, and so many of you can't keep one because of the crowing.

I wonder if he will ever crow, he hangs away from the hens. Are there natural capons?

Wish I lived closer to you! I'd love a rooster, but can't have one because of the "nuisance" crowing!

Just like there are some asexual humans (and I mean like my neighbor who was clearly male, but was just not interested in either sex), I suppose there could be asexual roosters.

How old is he exactly? He may start crowing later.

Some start crowing at a few weeks old, 4-5 months old, or 6-7 months old, or older.

I have heard of certain slow developing breeds with males not crowing until nearly a year old. I currently have two Silkie males coming up on 8 months old who still haven't crowed (at least not that I have heard). Do you have another rooster already? Sometimes it is just a submissive male and they won't crow often.
