Good morning BYC people, we built a home on 6 acres and was surprised one day by two peacocks that roamed onto the property and never left. However, the female was acting funny and ended up passing away early this morning. They are not even a year old as far as I know (no long feathers). My question is for the living male - he is not happy and is honking away looking for her. We didn't want her to lay there, so we have picked her up and moved her away from the house so the male doesn't smell her and go really nuts.

There are NO other peacocks in the area for him (COOTER) to play with. Do we get him a mate??

Yes u should get him a mate and could u upload the picture of the male because if they are less than a year u may have made a mistake in recognising its gender. Yearling peas do not cost much. Best of luck.

My avatar is the male (I THINK), I will post a photo of the other who I thought was a female.

Yes, you had a male and female. I'd get him a new mate. We lost our male a few days ago and our female was very upset. We got her a new male last night and she was much happier!
