Red bantam Cochin genetics?

Could somebody explain me how Red cochin genetics work?

I’ve been searching but came up with any other color genetics but red, maybe it works the same as buff and then everything would be simpler! Lol

I believe it is gold (s+/s+) with red enhancers (mahogany Mh/Mh). Also Columbian Co/Co, and Db/Db.

The chicken calculator tells me the base is E^Wh/E^Wh but I'm not 100% certain of that.

Interesting! And what color or characteristic is Db/Db?

If i breed black to red? Because I have only one red male, can i get reds in F2?
Is it sex linked?

No, not sex linked. Breed black to red and you get black with red leakage.

I don't fully trust the chicken calculator. Just recently found out that the creator of it doesn't actually understand chicken genetics all that well.

Please be advised that my dear friend Henk Meijers helped me on genetics when I started almost 20 years ago. I hold him dearly and while I can confirm that the chicken genetics calculator he created is not perfect, it's a very good tool if you know the genetics you are dealing with.

Genetically Red Cochins are the same as Buff Cochins but missing the gold dilution genes that turns them buff, their genetic make up is.

Wheaten on the e allele: eWh/eWh
Columbian restricted: Co/Co
Gold based: s+/s+
Mahogany red enhanced: Mh/Mh

other unknown columbian restrictors may be at play with Self Buffs and Self Reds that turn an otherwise black tail red into a solid red phenotype.

I try to use multiple sources to gather and verify my genetics data. Some colors are the same across breeds while others can differ, so I try my best to find breed specific data.

Yes, one may have a difference of opinion on the chicken calculator, but claiming that Mr. Henk Meijers doesn't understand chicken genetics all that well, is an unbelievable inaccurate statement and unless he has suffered a recent mental illness that has rendered him unfit to engage in a genetic debate, I would say that Mr. Henk is my superior in just about any field of chicken genetics.
