Songster
Our female goose decided to sit on her nest before we had a chance to really clean the coop/bedding and her nest is right under the chickens' roosts I told my husband to kick her off but he thought she'd be ok and left her. It's been almost a week and today when he checked on her, he said it smelled really bad!
If we take her eggs now, will she lay more and try again? (We will make sure to clean that spot! It's the same spot she tried to lay last year, her first year, but she didn't have anything hatch.) We still have snow on the ground so spring is really just starting. Or should we try to clean that area but leave her eggs on fresh bedding? If we candle her eygs, how can we tell if they got infected with bacteria or not?
Our tub for them is also still buried in snow, so I'm a little worried about fertility if they didn't have water to mate in (which is what I thought her issue was last year).
We are still very new to raiding geese so any advice will be greatly appreciated!
