Soooo...

Just so I get this right, because men and women think differently, men are better equipped to run a large farm operation with numerous employees than women?

Glad I didn't say that.

BTW, Polyface is considered a small to medium size farm by most standards. It is only 250 acreas. My farmer Grady (the former Salatin apprentice) and his dad run a couple thousand acre ranch.

LOL! Kind of...let me 'splain again what I mean here for you slooooow men

Men seem to be able to pass by the messes without blinking, as women pay much more attention to detail and are more inclined to "fix it now" rather than wait. BOTH have their place on the farm for sure, ANY farm, large or small. I just don't think a man can do it right on such a large farm, nor would a woman get it all done by herself due to the fact we'd generally stop and work on this or that more often than passing it up to move on to the next chore thinking we'll "get it later." I ADORE the strengths and weaknesses of both genders for what they are, and believe as very much opposing genders, we compliment each other. No better or worse as a whole, just some tasks are indeed gender specific with the ocassional exception to the rule.

Poppycock.

People in general prioritize according to priorities and motivation. It has absolutely nothing to do with gender.

I have to agree to this as much as I don't want to but Mel (girlfriend) will walk by something and ask, whens the last time you cleaned those waters? LOL.... umm a week ago. I normally clean them once a week but she can tell if I missed a few days. It definitely takes a team effort to make a good farm... great. I'd be willing to be that Joel has some pretty strong minded women in the background keeping things in order.

You must be one of those exceptions

This was a generalization, and I do personally believe it to be so, just from my own observations. I don't expect everyone to see or accept it

So when was the last time Mel cleaned the waterers? It is much different to delegate than do.

Oh she does... she even helps carry them in the snow. LOL. She knows that this time of year I'm burnt out and helps with just about everything, haven't yet fully plunged into processing yet but she isn't far off. She does help bag and peel gizzards, ect.

At first, she wouldn't do anything with any of the animals, it was all me. After a while she caught the "bug" I guess and has been spiraling down ever since.

Oh, I wouldn't be able to take it if she just pointed out dirty waters or something out of place. I would be like, theres the bleach and a rag... you want them clean have at it. I work to hard to have a gf just point and bark orders, get your darn hands dirty too. Which I'm thankful that she does.
