Love this! I remember when artificial intelligence became a "thing" and I wondered why suddenly artificial insemination was suddenly so popular!

Yep had a whole one sided conversation on another thread about breeding horses AI…..

I can NOT stand this whole participation trophy thing. Not just in sports. My son is in gifted classes at school, he is very smart. He got a 100% on a tough math test. Most of his classmates did not. The whole class had to retake the test so that nobody failed!

Yup - they can’t all be rocket scientist - the sooner kids learn this the better off they will be!

I fear for my old age - these brats will be caring for us all!

But I would like to see them all learn basic skills (like arithmetic and reading.) At some levels of learning, it does make sense to be sure everyone masters it before moving on to the next skill (especially if the next one builds on this one: like recognizing numbers before you learn addition, or mastering addition before going on to multiplication.)

I have no idea what level the test in that story was, so I can't say whether this would apply there. And I do think that if a kid gets it perfect, it makes sense to let him skip the retake (logical reward for actually knowing the material!)

I had a neighbor who thought it was neat that the fox came in daily and laid beside his ducks. I told him what was going to happen. He didn't believe me until it happened and he no longer had any ducks.

Their only real option at that point would be a livestock guardian dog, but they are expensive to obtain, maintain and train. Honestly if all one has are chickens a LGD is probably overkill as a predator proof coop and run will be cheaper and more effective

It seems many people think that guarding is instincts. You can by a lot of fencing for $600, instead of a lgd.
Or worse, they want a rooster or a goose.
